More Sidney Sheldon Books?

Three Sidney Sheldon novels will be published in October.

Sidney Sheldon died Jan.30, this year, at age 89. “You can’t imagine how many readers around the world mourned his death,” Morton Janklow told me. He’d been Sheldon’s agent and friend for over 35 years. Maureen O’Brien of William Morrow and Jamie O’Brien of Hachette, the hard and soft cover publishers respectively of Sheldon’s books and Janklow decided to re-publish three of his (many) best sellers in one, omnibus edition. Janklow allows, “We’ve done omnibus publications (of authors) before — but never posthumously.” The Sheldon books are: “The Other Side Of Midnight,” (1973), “Bloodline” (1977) and “Rage Of Angels” (1980). The collection will be titled, “The Dark Side Of Midnight.” And it will not be expensive,” Janklow added.

These three older books were chosen because they may not have been read by his many newer, younger readers. Sheldon’s last book is “The Other Side Of Me” — but he was thinking of many more, Janklow recalled Sheldon’s exacting novel-writing program: “15-16 drafts of each book dictated to a battery of secretaries — never an extra word in the final version — he edited them himself. He was the most narrative, vivid author I’d known, and a workaholic.”
